After 8 years of Republican president George W. Bush, Americans decided to vote for change and elect a new president with a catchy slogan: "Yes, we can". The 44th President of the United States of America is the first African-American president. He took office on January 20 2009, and before was senator of Illinois from January 2005 until November 2008. President Obama won the Democratic party nomination against Hillary Clinton, wife of former president Bill Clinton. She is now his Secretary of State. Hopes are high for this young president, especially after the Bush era which saw the U.S. go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Economic problems are staggering with high deficits and many corporations wondering how to stay afloat. Time will tell if he has what's needed to succeed.
