The Rt Hon Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill lived a long and full life. Known for his great leadership during World War II, he was also many other things besides a statesman and an orator. An officer in the British army, he was also a historian, and wrote many books as his Nobel prize for writing proves, as well as an artist. His speeches were a great inspiration to the British people. He was also the first person to speak of the Iron Curtain, referring to the USSR and the creation of the Eastern Bloc during a trip to the U.S.A. in 1946. When he died in 1965, Queen Elizabeth II honored his memory with a state funeral which saw statesman come from all over the world.
